Last year, CDK launched Fortellis, a technology engine with universal connections and protocols to enable an open exchange of data with its community of automotive partners and consumers in an open and secure manner. This plug-and-play platform allows developers, OEMs, and dealers to leverage, build, innovate, and securely integrate solutions and workflows to transform business. Additionally, partnerships with Lyft and its Hailer system provides not only added convenience but also an opportunity to leverage data for value-added services to consumers. CDK wants to leverage the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to harness this data and extract insights to become a data-driven enterprise.
Google Cloud Implementation
The intention of forming a joint CDK-Google-SpringML collaborative team was to review various data sources and understand data ingestion, storage, and processing options. Disparate data sources that represent the categories of real-time, batch, streaming, API, etc, were reviewed in greater detail. A strong architectural and design foundation was laid on GCP to support diverse source system patterns. In addition, this foundation helped the implementation of a roadmap of projects including Big Data Analytics and Machine Learning, throughout the data lifecycle at CDK.
