Iron Mountain Data Lake & Dashboards
Tracking global operations in over 50 countries with Google Cloud and Looker

Quote
“The completion of the first MVP has helped us establish governance and data stewardship, build the enterprise data platform foundation, and provided our leadership the art of the possible analytics.”
Hayelom Tadesse | Director, Enterprise Data Product Management at Iron Mountain
Company Overview
Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE: IRM), founded in 1951, is the global leader for storage and information management services with 24,000 employees and more than 220,000 customers in 50 countries. Iron Mountain stores and protects billions of valued assets, including critical business information, highly sensitive data, and cultural and historical artifacts.
Solution
SpringML worked closely with the Google Professional Services Organization to build the project charter, detailed design plans for data storage, processing, and integration. We built a data warehouse in BigQuery with appropriate security and access roles. Finally, the dashboards were built in Looker to provide business users with the right level of insights to make informed decisions.
Situation Overview
The project addressed two major needs:
- Disparate global systems meant Iron Mountain needed to build connections to a centralized cloud data platform or data lake
- Various on-premise systems and several Oracle instances needed to be integrated to create a single view of business operations
Benefits
Iron Mountain now has a centralized enterprise data platform. SpringML built their cloud data lake in less than eight weeks. Key stakeholders in the global leadership team are now able to access a single source of “truth” and interact with intelligent data across various departments via Looker dashboards.
